Congratulations to Danielle Hakim, winner of the inaugural Rae & Bennett award for excellence in contemporary practice, in the RMIT Fine Art Photography graduate exhibition. We were immediately struck by Danielle’s work, her ideas are very cleverly executed and we encourage you all to see the show in person! It’s currently on at 45 Downstairs until the 18th of December. Danielle’s prize consists of a voucher for printing at Rae & Bennett to the value of $250. We’ll keep you posted! |

Kings ARI are currently accepting proposals for their July – December 2011 program. Have a look at the proposals page for more info. Be quick! The deadline is January 29th.
Next Wave, the brilliant arts festival for emerging artists, is currently seeking applications for their Kickstart program. Kickstart provides professional and creative development of a project over a year in the lead up to the festival, and is invaluable for artists who have large scale or complex projects. Check it out at Next Wave HQ. Be super quick! Applications close on the 17th of January.
It’s a little way off, but Arts Victoria’s funding deadline for the first round in 2011 is the 1st of March. There’s nothing worse than scrambling to the mailbox on the last day, so be ahead of the game by heading here pronto.
Also a little way off, but worth keeping in mind, is Australia Council’s ArtStart program, designed to give funding to emerging artists to establish their professional careers. The closing date for round one is the 2nd of March, 2011.
Have you seen the latest issue of Photofile? Check out our ad on page 78! Also worth reading are the reviews of “Pictures by Women” currently on at MoMA, New York, and “Up Close”, the Carol Jerrems show held recently at Heide.
