Calling all artists:
Arena are launching their new gallery, and looking for politically engaged visual artists to respond to their newly created project space. Head to the Arena website for more information.
Kings ARI are looking for a show to fill a gap in their program, have a look at www.kingsartistrun.com.au for more information. Be quick! Proposals are due by Monday 9th May.
Entries for the William & Winifred Bowness prize at the Monash Gallery of Art have opened! One of Australia’s most desired photographic prizes, this year the Bowness prize is worth $25,000 for one talented artist. Download your entry form at the MGA website. Entries close 22nd June.
The Northern Exposure Festival in Northcote are looking for artists to create works for their Small Works Small Spaces program, and the High Views program. Head over to www.highstreetnorthcote.com.au to download an application form. Make it snappy! The deadline was officially last week but I heard they’ll take a late application or two.
Bus Projects are on the lookout for proposals to program their August – December calendar. If you haven’t been to the new Bus premises in Donkey Wheel House, get on down to the current show Unstructures, which features a closing night performance on Friday the 6th of May.
CCP/Kodak Salon Prizes
We’re delighted to congratulate Sharon West on winning the inaugural Rae & Bennett award for Excellence in Conceptual Photography. Sharon’s image The Black Blue Boy (No Apologies To Gainsborough) can be seen at the Centre for Contemporary Photography until the 4th of June. We’re also thrilled for Raisin + Wells, whose work Grace Darling (printed at Rae & Bennett) won the Patrick Corrigan AM aquisitive award.
